Hello everyone and welcome! This isn’t my first blog; I’ve started a couple before in the past. They didn’t do so bad either but I was missing something – something crucial. I was missing marketing skills. One thing that I realize about blogging is that you must have all of the key elements that make blogging successful. Marketing was something that I sorely lacked and because of that, I gave up. Now that I’m a lot more savvy, especially when it comes to digital marketing, I decided that it was time to give this “blogging thing” another go.
As I write this, I am currently in my early thirties with over $50K in debt, mostly from student loans. I am a marketing manager and for the first time in my life, I can actually say that I make a decent living. After doing the calculations based on my income and my minimal spending habits I realize that I can pay off all of my debt within five years just on my salary alone. That isn’t factoring in any side hustles that I might have going on at any given time.
However, because I have such a strong desire to either stay in bed an hour or two longer or go to the beach most mornings instead of going to work, I decided that I needed to do more in order to achieve the work life balance I wanted. Don’t get me wrong, I actually really like the work that I do but I wish that I could do my work on my own schedule and from the comfort of a comfy chair on a balcony somewhere, perhaps overlooking a Hawaiian beach or the likes of it, if you catch my drift. Also, if my entrepreneurial efforts could help me pay off my debt in less than five years that would be the cherry on top. Who knows, maybe I’ll even quit my day job altogether. After all, I am in the pursuit of leisure, but who isn’t right?
I decided that this blog would be my public journal of my milestones in this pursuit and hopefully, through my experiences, I will help others along the way. My goal is to share successes and pitfalls of not only my own pursuit but the pursuit of others as well. I figure that we can all learn from one another. So I encourage you to share your experiences too. I want to hear it all – the good, the bad and the ugly. You never know how sharing your experience could influence the lives of others. Let’s start now! Have you started a blog before? Do you have one now? What advice would you give someone who wants to start a blog? Leave your comments below!
