How I’m Redesigning My Life

I’m back! Chances are, you didn’t know that I took a break from blogging, but I did. Months ago I realized that I not only wanted to change the name of my blog but I wanted to completely change the direction of what I blogged about. Why? I felt unfulfilled. Let me explain.

I initially started a blog about making money (primarily online), saving money, and all things related to growing your net worth. While that topic was good, it was the easy route for me. This is something that I could write about and demonstrate all day long, hence the reason why I chose the niche.

However, something that I truly desire to become was a travel blogger. Typical huh? Well, what can I say, who doesn’t want to travel the world and share their experiences with others? If you can get paid while doing it, that’s the cherry on top. This topic is absolutely not easy for me to achieve whatsoever! For starters, I have no money for traveling and although I enjoy my job, having a regular 9-5 with set vacation weeks each year will not cut it. Hence, the challenge.

The truth is, I’m not a travel blogger but it is what I want to be. The second confession, I have absolutely no idea how to get to where I want to be, which is a full-time travel blogger. That’s right, I want to make money while I live the dream—my dream. The scary thing about starting a blog like this is that as I put my intentions out there for the world wide web to see, I can’t help but to wonder if I will fail. Do I really have what it takes to redesign my life and become this whole new person that I daydream about? Only time will tell.

If things don’t work out, I will feel good that I at least attempted. I will continue to do my research and test different avenues but I have to be smart. I mean, I’m a single cat mom who is completely responsible for paying all of my own bills. I can’t just quit my day job, sell all of my possessions and ask my parents to float me a thousand dollars as I try to figure out how to live my dream.

I know that life is all about taking risks and chances but I’m just not that kind of person. So I will be planning things out and carefully considering the costs. As a person who never had great success with trying things out on the shot, I’ll also need to have plan B and C in my back pocket just in case.

One avenue that I recently discovered that I truly enjoy is vlogging! I posted my first video (below) on YouTube on May 1st, 2017 and that video to date has about 9k views. While I do have other videos that barely have 100 views, I’m not at all discouraged. I find it fun trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. It’s the testing and exploring that make it exciting for me. So I’ve decided to do both together. I definitely think that one will help the other and vice versa. I am being true to my unique self and I’m allowing my “vibe to attract my tribe” as they say.

Although I’m technically not a travel blogger/vlogger yet, hopefully in a year I will be. On this blog, I plan to document my progress, good or bad. Which means, you will know when I have setbacks, when I discover helpful hacks and everything in between. So welcome! Welcome to my travel/lifestyle blog. If you are a travel blogger or a person who loves traveling, I’d love to hear from you so please leave a comment below.

  • Good for you for doing what you love and are passionate about. I don’t blame you for not quitting your job to make blogging a full time gig. If it does…then great, BUT if it doesn’t you still have a paycheck AND you are still following your dreams. And who knows, you may one day be a full time, full income travel blogger.

  • Love the honesty and open-ness in the post. And congrats on finding your love within the vlogging sphere as well! I am like you, I love to travel and ideally think it would be great to sustain a life of travel that way but am not ready to make that plunge from my 9-5 job yet either (also need to save $$). Haha. Keep working on those travel blogger dreams and look forward to reading more! 🙂

  • Way to go! I’d like to answer your question “Do I really have what it takes to redesign my life and become this whole new person that I daydream about?”…. Yes you do. Time will confirm (not tell).. I honestly believe we all have what it takes to be who we want to be and if we put our minds to it we surprise ourselves.

  • Congrats on the transition of your blog.its so great to see the how creative bloggers can expand their brand on their on time. Wishing you much success as a travel blogger.

  • It’s awesome you are going for what you want – don’t let things hold you back now, you never know what life will look like in the future so you should definitely set yourself on the right path now! 🙂

Even if you have a job and can’t travel far you could review places and things to do near you until you can go further – good luck with your dreams!

  • You Go Girl! I love that you are embracing your dreams. Too many of us wait too long, or set aside our dreams to help build up someone else’s. Just by living in Florida, you are living someone’s dream – trust me, I’m here too…I wish you luck and can’t wait to see where you end up.

  • I wish you safe travels while you do your traveling for your travel blog. I think it great you are following your heart and doing something you are passionate about
